The brother of a local girl has come up with a novel way of convincing people to attend an event to raise funds for her cancer treatment.

18-year-old Shauntelle Tynan needs to raise over €500,000 before the end of this month to return to Texas for further treatment for Hystiocytosis X.

The Carlow girl has now had five failed treatments, but doctors are hopeful this time it might work – if her family can find the money needed.

A fundraiser is being held in New Ross tonight, in Spider O’Brien’s bar.

Shauntelle’s brother, Dylan has taken to rapping on social media to encourage people to attend.
