First tonight we heard about the worrying forestry issue of Ash die-back, something with more than a farming aspect, also being a hugely cultural issue, with ash being an omnipresent part of the Irish countryside and synonymous with hurling. Joining us in studio were Michael Power, Estate Risk Manager with Coillte, Michael Somers, Forestry Advisor with Teagasc and Dr. Gerry Douglas, Plant Researcher with Teagasc joined us on the phone.

We also heard from Terry Carroll, Beef Adviser with Teagasc on an upcoming Suckler and Beef event, happening on September 6th at Kildalton.

Joining us in studio was the current president of the Agricultural Science Association, Mary Delaney, who told us about the upcoming ASA annual conference, the opportunities for graduates in the sector and her own experiences as president and in her work with Glanbia.

We had our weekly farm diary items, sponsored by Tullow Mart and George Candler joined us for the weekly Kilkenny Mart Report.
