Senator questions how soon Leighlinbrige Garda station will re-open

Questions have been asked over how soon the promised re-opening of Leighlinbridge Garda station might happen.

Speaking in the Seanad this week Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor raised the matter of new recruits in the Gardai asking where exactly they are to be stationed.

She says she wants to ask the Justice Minister to bring some clarity to the matter…

“I would like to know if the spin of an increase of the ranks of the Carlow Kilkenny division to 318 actually means enough capacity to reopen a Garda station in the village of Leighlinbridge that should not have been closed in the first place”.
