“Market Street is dying, businesses are struggling, parking’s restricted” so said Councillor Michael Doyle during a conversation on the Thomastown Local Area Plan.

Kilkenny County Council discussed the details at their monthly meeting before deciding to return the document to public consultation.

Some members were frustrated by the number of homes set to be built in the area, with most hoping for more.

Cllr Patrick O’Neill believes the main issue is with the National Planning Framework which is trying to keep zoned land to a minimum tied to the predicted growth of an area.
