The contract has been signed for a €12 million euro upgrade to the drinking water supply serving three Kilkenny towns

The drinking water supply in Gowran, Goresbridge, and Paulstown will undergo significant upgrades as a result of a new construction contract with Uisce Éireann and in collaboration with Kilkenny County Council.

The project will guarantee the supply of clean, safe drinking water to residences and commercial buildings, enhance the quality of the water, and foster long-term growth and development in the neighbourhood.

Councillor Denis Hynes, who had campaigned for the upgardes for many years was happy work will commence on the project within the next month.

“Yeah, I’m delighted to report. It’s been years of representation and we’ve just secured a contract signed and being delivered on now for a €12 million investment for Gorebridge, Gowran and Paulstown to improve the drinking water to do major refurbishment work”.

“David Walsh, Civil Engineering Limited, has signed the contracts and he’s been given the contract to do the work. He’s starting in a month’s time and the work will be completed before the end of next year”.

“There may be some disruption, but it will be very minimal. The people in the area have been hit very bad over the last number of years with breakages so this is going to solve all these problems hopefully. And the future looks really bright now. Thank God”.

“I’m delighted because I have been making representation on this since I was elected back in 2019. It’s been a burning issue for us and I’ve been working really hard. But I wouldn’t want to forget delayed Bobby Aylward, Bobby would have done a bit of work on this as well and I wouldn’t want the moment to pass without remembering his contribution to this as well. It’s great to see it being delivered on, I’d also want to recognise the work done by Tim Butler, the director of service in Kilkenny Councy Council, I know I would have to say he had a pain in his ear listening to me on the focus was he’s been great as well. So I want to thank the Council”.
