A County Kilkenny’s former status as a “village” may have made it more difficult for outside developers to think they could take over the community, according to a local councillor.
Kilmanagh is no longer known as a “village” and is instead now referred to as a “rural node” in the County Development Plan 2021 – 2027.
Cllr Michael Delaney who’s also a farmer and runs a pub and shop in his native Tullaroan told KCLR News that spot is also a rural node and expressed his desire to see both communities reclassified soon.
He said; “I would imagine a village, as classed as a village, it might be that bit more harder for developers to come into a rural community and think they can take it over, so look I think they need to come back as villages, I believe there’s something behind it, we’ll wait and see what happens here”.
