Striking Criminal barristers are withdrawing services around the country again today in a row over fees.
They’re staging action outside a number of courthouses this morning, including in Carlow and Kilkenny.
They say there’s been no commitment to a timeline – despite a Government report as far back as 2018 stating fee restoration was justified.
According to Seán Guerin, Senior Counsel, and Chair of the Criminal State Bar Committee they’ve been left with no other choice with him saying; “Our members are extremely frustrated by the delay in addressing an issue and in particular the failure to restore financial emergency pay cuts in circumstances where the Minister for Justice has recognised and Government seems to agree that there’s no good reason to do that”.
