Local TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor looks set to defend her Dáil seat.
She found out last night at the Carlow Selection convention that her name will be on the ballot sheet for the General Election.
Deputy Murnane reacted to the selection on The KCLR Daily;
She’s the sixth person to have been declared a contender in the local constituency – Minister of State Malcolm Noonan’s seeking to be returned for the Green Party, Independent Tom Healy confirmed he’s running on KCLR while Fine Gael’s fielding three contenders in sitting Kilkenny councillors David Fitzgerald and Michael Doyle with Carlovian Catherine Callaghan.
A date hasn’t yet been set for Fianna Fáil’s selection convention for Kilkenny but it’s expected sitting TD John McGuinness and one other will be added to the party ticket.
