Fianna Fáil have selected candidates in Carlow and Kilkenny to contest next general election

Just two candidates from Fianna Fail in Kilkenny have been nomniated to go forward for selection for the general election.

Nominations closed at 5pm on Wednesday evening.

The nominees are sitting Carlow-Kilkenny TD John McGuinness and Thomastown Fianna Fail councillor Peter “Chap” Cleere.

Ratification will take place at a convention, to be held in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, Deputy Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has been ratified as the Carlow candidate to contest the next general election
