Bennekerry/Tinryland celebrated a landmark achievement over the weekend, capturing their first-ever provincial title by claiming the AIB Leinster Intermediate Championship.

Leah Mullins, a standout player for Bennekerry/Tinryland, expressed the team’s collective joy to KCLR following the historic win. “It’s just an amazing feeling, but there’s 31 of us that have that amazing feeling,” she shared.

“We worked so hard, our management prepared us so well for today and every game throughout the championship. Starting from back in Carlow, the whole way through, first round the Leinster, we worked so hard for this moment.”

Mullins highlighted the team’s unity, saying, “I’m just so happy that we all get to celebrate it together as a unit because that’s what we are. Even the people who mightn’t be here are looking down, we’re thinking of those today.”

The victory propels Bennekerry/Tinryland into the All-Ireland semi-final, where they will face the Ulster champions in three weeks.

You can listen back to the game in company of the KCLR commentary team of Maria Kinsella, Willie Quinlan, and Johnathan Higgins while also soaking up the post-match atmosphere with on-pitch interviews and  KCLR’s trip to the clubhouse for homecoming.
