Kilkenny Senior Hurler and Erin’s Own stalwart Conor Fogarty has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling, drawing the curtain on an illustrious 14-year career.

Fogarty, who joined the Kilkenny senior panel in 2011 at just 20 years of age, leaves a legacy of dedication and excellence, having been a pivotal figure in the team’s success over the past decade and more.

During his time with Kilkenny, Fogarty amassed an impressive collection of honors, including:

  • 4 All-Ireland titles
  • 9 Leinster titles
  • 5 National League titles

His inter-county journey began in 2007 with the Kilkenny minor panel. The following year, he claimed both Leinster and All-Ireland Minor titles, excelling as a left half-back. Fogarty continued to rise through the ranks, adding a Leinster U21 title to his name in 2009 before making his mark at senior level.

Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager Derek Lyng praised Fogarty’s contributions, emphasizing his work ethic and the integral role he played in Kilkenny’s triumphs.

“It has been a privilege to have worked alongside Conor whose contributions to Kilkenny hurling have been significant,” Lyng said. “His humble attitude demonstrated his strong work ethic and discipline, and he played a pivotal role in Kilkenny’s successes down through the years. Conor will be greatly missed, and I wish him all the best as he enters retirement.”

County Board Chairman PJ Kenny also expressed his gratitude for Fogarty’s commitment to Kilkenny hurling.

“On behalf of Kilkenny GAA, I would like to thank Conor for so many great years in the black & amber. Renowned for his skill, determination, and unwavering commitment to the sport, Conor represented Kilkenny and his club Erin’s Own with pride and led by example. Conor leaves us with many great memories, and I wish him all the best for the future.”
