A housing development in Carlow, which was taken over by the County Council late last year, is set to allocate 38 units by the end of March.
Ballyknockan Manor in Leighlinbridge is now managed by the local authority after residents raised concerns about the unfinished estate, which had been left incomplete for several years.
Key aspects of the development, such as manhole covers, footpaths, and garden areas, were never completed by the developer.
Cllr Daniel Pender believes the delivery of the social houses will bring hope on the horizon.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr Pender stated that “They will be allocated within that period of time”, before adding that “its a shame to see these things being dragged out, but there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel in that there will be an allocation sometime in the near future.”
Cllr Pender had previously called on the process to be expedited last September, though was informed at the time that delays had been incurred due to an agreement between the contractor and the approved housing body not yet being finalised.
