Man jailed for nine years for running brothels and money laundering in Carlow and rural Ireland

A 54 year old man who rented out properties in County Carlow and across rural Ireland under false pretences and used them as brothels has been jailed for nine years.

One of the properties, a court has heard, was located in Tullow.

Ilamar Rodrigues Ribeiro with an address in Goias, Brazil, also pleaded guilty to money laundering and possessing child abuse material.

The court heard the accused had rented out properties under false pretences and then used them as brothels.

Detective Chief Superintendent Colm Noonan, praised the victims for coming forward: The feature of trafficking is the moving from place to place of victims and the exploitation of victims. We want to stop that exploitation.
