Local councillors are calling on the National Transport Authority to move forward with the second phase of the bus service in Carlow Town, following the success of phase one.
With high usage numbers and positive feedback, Cllr Ken Murnane is confident that the NTA will honour its commitment to complete phase two, though he remains uncertain about the timeline for its implementation.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr. Murnane outlined what the next phase of the project would look like.
“If you take Graiguecullen, the bus service in Graiguecullen travels from Dunnes Stores to Graigue bridge, which is less than half a kilometre in Graiguecullen Laois, and even less again in Graiguecullen Carlow, so we are being told that there will be extra buses, plus different routes to cover a lot of the town that isn’t actually covered at the minute, but we have no confirmation of when the NTA will approve of the extra buses, and phase two of the bus service.”
