ATM services could be on the way back for residents on the Waterford/Kilkenny border
The people of Ferrybank and surrounding areas has been without an ATM facility since the closure of SPAR earlier this year.
KCLR News understands that Tesco Express on Abbey Road has applied for an ATM, and the installation is expected to take place in late January.
Speaking to KCLR News Ferrybank development chair John Hayes says its urgently required: “We really haven’t had any facility here since Spar closed with a population of over 5,500 people.”
On the question of older people who may not drive or that can’t walk very far that it still won’t help them, Mr Hayes replied: “You’re right and one of the comments there from a gentleman basically said as a non-driver uphill to Abbey Park is a no-no the city would be easier and level.”
“Ferrybank badly needs more services in the actual village but it is a help to anybody who can drive obviously because otherwise you would have to go across the bridge and now at least that facility is there.”
