A local councillor is calling for the eviction ban to be re-introduced as a matter of urgency, warning that housing supply in Carlow is failing to meet demand.
People Before Profit’s Adrienne Wallace says a report presented at the most recent monthly council meeting revealed that just 32 social houses were allocated in Carlow town during 2025.
She claims that, at this rate, it would take more than 30 years to clear the current housing waiting list.
Cllr. Wallace is also urging the government to bring back the tenant-in-situ scheme to help prevent families from losing their homes.
