No injuries were reported after a multiple vehicle crash on the M9 yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the incident that occurred on the southbound lane in the Powerstown area of Co. Carlow at approximately 2pm.
KCLR understands from eye witnesses that up to five vehicles were involved.
The southbound section of the road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile Gardaí will be out in force today as part of a 24-hour operation on the roads.
Hundreds of checkpoints will be in place across the country as part of National Slow Down Day, ahead of Christmas.
184 people have been killed in road crashes so far in this year, 17 more than this time last year.
