Carlow/Kilkenny TD Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere was among the new batch of Dáil deputies to enter the chamber as a first-time member following the 2024 General Election.
In an interview with the Irish Independent (From time-consuming votes to 80-hour weeks: four first-time TDs on their Dáil experience | Irish Independent – paywalled), the Fianna Fáil TD described the Dáil’s voting process as “slow and cumbersome,” adding: “I just cannot understand how five votes in an evening can take 45 minutes”.
