A local councillor has said that the condition of a bridge on the Kilkenny/Tipperary border can’t be ignored, it’s a serious issue.
The words of Cllr. Pat Dunphy who says the structure built in the 1930’s between Piltown and Carrick-On-Suir is a danger to the public.
The pedestrian bridge crosses the Lingaun river at Kilonerry and in urgent need of repair.
He outlined to KCLR News the issue with the bridge: “So the bridge is badly damaged, the decking has sagged on it and the pier has moved.”
“It’s highly dangerous and I suppose the first thing they put up there were notices to the public not to use it but I believe some people might be using it still and I’d advise them not to.”
“That’s the advice we got from the council engineer yesterday that it’s highly dangerous and people should keep away from it.”
