Jessie Buckley leads the list of Irish Oscar nominees.
The Kerry native has been nominated in the Best Actress category, for her performance in ‘Hamnet.’
Her co-star Paul Mescal missed out on a nod in the Best Supporting Actor category.
There was disappointment locally for Cartoon saloon who failed to secure one of the 5 nomination spots for this years Oscars. Their production of Éiru had being one of 15 who were in the running for best Animated Film. A spokeperson for the company told KCLR News:
“As disappointing as it may be not to have been nominated, we are so delighted with how well Éiru has been received not only in Ireland but around the world.”
“To see our work, made by a small team of artists here in Kilkenny, make the Academy shortlist out of over 100 qualifying shorts is something we’re incredibly proud of.
