A local councillor says Phil Hogan is hugely qualified and a highly respected individual on the world stage and it’s only fitting and appropriate that he should go forward.
David Fitzgerald was reacting to the news that Tullaroan native and former EU Commissioner’s reportedly looking for the Director General role of the United Nations global Food and Agriculture Organisation.
Mr Fitzgerald believes that the loss of his position as the European Trade Commissioner was a mistake and he hoped that the government should correct that mistake and fully support Phil Hogan. “What we need in this country is we need people who understand the agricultural industry and Phil Hogan certainly does understand the industry.”
“Phil Hogan is capable of delivering on the world stage for Irish and European farmers and we should back him to the hilt to ensure that he gets this job.”
