A locally based homeless services CEO is calling on Senators to reject as a matter of urgency new rental legislation.
The Dáil last night passed the Residential Tenancies Bill by a vote of 73 for and 68 against last night.
Carlow Kilkenny TDs Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere and Catherine Callaghan with Minister of State Jennifer Murnane O’Connor were among those to help carry the motion while Natasha Newsome Drennan was the sole local to vote against it, with no result logged for Deputy John McGuinness (see full vote here).
There’s some concern with provisions which take effect from the 1st of March with landlords able to hike rents to market rates between tenancies, though it also offers minimum tenancies to renters of six years.
