The IFA’s Deputy President is insisting that farming priorities must be central to the Irish Presidency of the EU.
This country’s due to take that mantle on the 1st of July and hold it to the 31st of December.
Yesterday afternoon, Carlow native Alice Doyle led a delegation before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs where she outlined the significance of sustainable rural communities, food security and environmental stewardship.
A host of other topics were up for discussion, including Mercosur and other trade deals, Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Nature Restoration Law, Fertiliser Action Plan, the EU Livestock Strategy, the EU Animal Welfare regulations and the Unfair Trading Practices legislation.
