Kilkenny’s local authority will not support a proposed windfarm development in South Kilkenny.
At a special meeting of the County Council yesterday they recommended refusal for the proposed development of ten wind turbines at Ballyfasy near Mullinavat, citing insufficient information in the application submitted by Manogate Ltd.
However, this is not the final word on the proposal as the ultimate decision lies with An Comisiún Pleanála, whose verdict cannot be appealed. “You know, it’s so hard for communities to fight these big, massive companies.”
“They have to set up fundraisers to get people in, to get expertise, advice on everything and they’ve done all that. So listen, let’s hope that An Comisiún Pleanála will go along with our refusal and see it for what it is.”
“It’s going to destroy the South East.” Here’s Cllr Catt-Slattery’s reaction to the Council’s verdict.
Her Fianna Fail colleague Cllr Ger Frisby offered the following reaction.
