The IFA’s Animal Health rep said it’s incumbent on all farmers and companies to achieve and maintain quality assurance standards, and that anyone who fails to do so has questions to answer.
Jim Mulhall said that 55,000 Irish farmers meeting those standards on a daily basis and that anyone involved in food promotion without abiding by those standards was on unsure footing.
Speaking to KCLR News, the former Kilkenny IFA Chairman said that standards matter, which was why he feels Larry Murrin’s future as Bord Bia Chair must be swiftly addressed.
“What’s going on at the moment between ourselves and Board Bia is a strong difference of opinion and the chairman’s role.2
“I do think we need to get this situation resolved so we can all move forward as I understand it, the IFA have put forward a framework on the issue and I really hope Board Bia can do this because it’s time for us all to move on now and just get back to business.”
