Identifying the origins of the ever lengthening list of scam calls that Kilkenny residents are dealing with is a difficult process according to local Gardai.
Scam phone calls featuring the crest of An Garda Síochána, as well as contact details falsely linked to Revolut have been made known to Kilkenny Gardai in recent weeks.
Speaking to KCLR News, Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Eddie Brennan explained the difficulties of pursuing such culprits. “An Garda Síochána will not, ring you out of the blue looking for private personal information in relation to your finances.”
“The Garda crest will not show up if we were ringing people and equally then we’re seeing that the Revolut name is starting to show up on incoming calls. So we’re just asking people to be extra vigilant with that, not engage and not answer the numbers.”
