The Society of the Irish Motor Industry says new car sales is up on same period last year

Over 15,000 new cars were registered in February, a rise of 7% on the same month last year.

Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show registrations so far in 2026 are up slightly on twelve months ago.

It’s found an increase of over a third in imported used cars over that time frame.

The number of Battery Electric Vehicles rose by 14% to a total of more than 2,800 in February.
