A Kilkenny teenager is set to feature on new stamps issued by An Post to mark International Women’s Day.
The collection celebrates Irish women in medicine, highlighting the major role they have played in improving healthcare in the country. In Ireland today, about 40% of doctors are women.
Ciara Young’s baby ultrasound photo appears on the stamp alongside Professor Rhona Mahony, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and the first woman Master of the National Maternity Hospital.
The Loreto Secondary School pupil told KCLR News it’s a cool experience.
“It’s a bit crazy really like it’s definitely a unique experience so I don’t think many people can say they’re on a stamp and yeah, it’s really, it’s interesting to see what I look like as an unborn baby and my cute little button nose and thankfully I still have that now, so yeah, it’s kind of cool really.” said Ciara.
