A Kilkenny County Councillor has appealed for an increase in the discretionary fund made available to elected members.
Such spending is generally used for community-based initiatives, including recreational and environmental projects.
Speaking to KCLR News, Fianna Fail’s Joe Sheridan said that a top-up to the pot would go a long way locally.
“Yeah, €8,500, it’s great, don’t get me wrong, it’s great that we have that to spend, but we’d all love to have a little bit more.” said Joe.
“You don’t get a huge amount for it, but still, it’s a lovely little small nest egg to have there to put towards something, like last year, the fund went between Stoneyford and Ennisnag for public lighting on that stretch of the road, but that’s it, it’s gone, that’s as much as you can use.” he added.
