A local TD is calling on the Government to reverse its decision to reintroduce State exam fees.
It comes as parents begin receiving payment requests for Junior and Leaving Cert students.
Deputy Natasha Newsome Drennan says families are already under pressure from the rising cost of living.
She adds that households are now being asked to pay more than €100 per student for State exams, at a time when many are struggling with energy and fuel costs.
The Sinn Féin representative has criticised the Government’s decision in last year’s budget to bring the fees back and is now calling on Ministers to reverse the move and scrap the charges to ease the burden on parents.
