We’re being urged to ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ today.
It’s the International Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Kilkenny County Council’s inviting you to show your support by taking part in Wear Red Day.
The campaign forms part of the Immigrant Council of Ireland’s National Day of celebration of diversity and inclusion, dedicated to raising awareness about racism and promoting respect and equality.
The programme provides educational resources, workshops, training and awareness-raising activities for primary and secondary schools, youth groups, workplaces and sporting stakeholders nationwide.
By wearing red, you can help to send a strong message that racism has no place in our community.
This simple act shows that we welcome diversity, celebrate it, and recognize that our society is stronger and richer because of it.
This initiative is co-funded by the Ireland Against Racism Fund.
Meanwhile, the day falls as Muslims locally mark Eid.
