The Heritage Council’s expecting to add a further 11 names to its payroll by the end of this year.
Headquartered in Kilkenny City, it’s already doubled its staff in recent years – so the county council’s monthly meeting heard from the organisation’s CEO and Callan native Virginia Teehan.
She told KCLR News what this staffing boost would mean for her team, noting; “It’ll allow us to deliver on the development of a research unit within the council to look at the economic impact of heritage in Ireland and also we were very fortunate at the end of last year we received five million under the shared island fund for some work across the border so we’re employing shortly project officers to help us deliver on that shared island work”.
If you missed her interview with our Dermot Keyes on The KCLR Daily (10am-1pm) who also spoke with Heritage Officer with Kilkenny County Council Regina Fitzpatrick;
Meanwhile, have you heard of this week’s search for a ‘lost village’ in Kilkenny?
