Active Retirement groups provide not just activities but a vital social space for many in rural Ireland.

The Slieverue branch was among those presented with funds from Kilkenny Lions Club at its most recent celebratory night.  The team expect to use the cash to pay speakers who stop by to address its their members and also for an overhead projector.

Spokesperson Betty Walsh told KCLR News that the group’s main gathering each Wednesday from 11am to 3pm is hugely important;
