There are concerns that a historic structure in County Carlow won’t be operating at its full potential this summer.
Part of the roof on the shed portion of Duckett’s Grove, which was taken down on health and safety grounds a couple of years ago, continues to await reinstatement.
Councillor Fergal Browne wants to see that rectified.
“It was a health and safety risk in windy weather, but in that context, you would just close off the area.” said Fergal.
“The council did apply for funding, but didn’t get the funding they would hope to get, that has delayed the process, and I would hope now the roof can be fast-tracked on the old shed part of the Ducketts Grove.”
“That’ll allow people to overflow from the cafe into that area, and allow people to organise events out there, I know there are ambitious plans for Duckettsgrove in the near future, we will see the cafe being reopened shortly, I understand, and other events planned, but a lot of great work has gone out there and it’s very disappointing to see the roof issue coming back to haunt us.” he added.
