Man dies following alleged assault in county Waterford

A man has died after an alleged assault in Co. Waterford.

Gardaí were called to an incident outside a house in Cappagh in Dungarvan at around 6 o’clock yesterday evening where they found a man in his 70’s with serious injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will be carried out.

A man in his forties has been arrested.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
