Labour councillor Seán O’hArgáin has welcomed the opening of a new riverside walkway at Greensbridge in Kilkenny.
The timber path stretches nearly five kilometres, linking the Weir swimming area to Ossory Bridge, and includes a new mural on the underpass.
The two-metre-wide walkway features improved safety measures and better accessibility for people with mobility challenges, as Cllr O’hArgáin outlines.
“You know what we’re trying to do consistently throughout the city is have things as accessible to everybody as possible regardless of their mobility levels or their ability to move around so hopefully that will be the case and also a new footpath going in by the way and in the Riverside Drive area where people walk previously on the grass.” he said.
“That will be used as well and provide an alternative, particularly when there’s occasional, as they call it, overtopping or when there’s some flooding down along the pathway close to the river.” he added.
