Second-hand fashion is seeing a surge in popularity as the cost of living continues to rise.
SEO specialist Megan Roberts says clothing prices have increased by around 9% year-on-year, driving more people to search for affordable and sustainable options.
Her analysis shows Carlow leading the way in online searches for sustainable fashion, while Kilkenny ranks lower, possibly due to a stronger preference for in-store shopping.
She told KCLR that more community-based selling could be the way forward for the region.
“Sustainability does come up a lot as well as the cost because a lot of the clothing does go to landfills around the world and kind of flooding out the vintage shops.” said Megan.
“I reckon if it’s more accessible for smaller brands, maybe something will come in where people who buy from them can sell within their community and drive traffic back to the website.” she added.
