A 20-house project in Freshford is the largest property development in the village since the 1990s.
An Tobar is a mix of three and two-bed properties, with ten earmarked for social housing and the remaining ten to be sold through Kilkenny County Council’s Affordable Purchase Scheme.
Applications for which will be exclusively submitted through an online portal, which will open tomorrow week (24th June – more details here).
With three of these ten set aside for local home hunters, Castlecomer Municipal District Chairperson and Freshford resident Councillor Michael McCarthy hopes the final figure will be well in excess of that telling KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes; “I would hope that the whole ten will be allocated to people from Freshford, I think being from a local area will give you, say, a heads start on people from elsewhere so I would be very hopeful, having of course met the criteria which I’m sure a lot of local couples will, that certainly 90% of the homes will go to Freshford people”.
