History is being made in Piltown today as the Iverk Show celebrates its historic 200th anniversary.Gates opened early this morning for thousands of visitors arriving to experience one of Ireland’s oldest agricultural traditions.
Among the features today are livestock classes, elite showjumping, and a special ‘Two Hundred Years in a Day’ heritage exhibition.
Organisers are urging drivers to follow local diversions, with action continuing at the showgrounds until 6 PM this evening.
Robert Duggan, PRO of the show, says they are fully committed to keeping this proud local tradition alive.
“We try to do get the best and get the best produce. When the farmer is poor, everybody is poor, is what they say. We when when farming was improved way back in the day, it improved the live- livelihood and the welfare of everyone. And that’s what we’re showcasing. But also, all of the other bits and pieces, all of the best of art, bloodstock, cattle, some of the other arts and crafts that are in the area.” said Robert.
