Carlow MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú hails significant day for the Irish language

It’s a big day for the Irish language with active interpretation to be provided of President of the European Commission’s State of the European Union address and the following debate.

Ursula von der Leyen will set out the EU’s priorities for the coming year, looking back also at the past 12 months, which in itself is significant.

While such speeches made ‘as gaeilge’ during Strasbourg plenary sessions are normally interpreted into English, today all those speaking English will be heard in Irish too.
