Student protestors in Carlow are calling on the State to approve the visa’s of three Gaza students scheduled to study at SETU.
The Palestinian students who were awarded scholarships and achieved grades of over 90% had their visas refused in July of this year.
Access Officer at SETU, Aisling McHugh, says the students have gone to significant lengths to obtain the relevant documents for their appeal.
She says everything is in place for the students to commence their studies should the appeal go through.
“We have been blindsided by this. SETU has worked hard since May because we were expecting these three students. They are no cost to the state, we are putting in place full support, accommodation, medical insurance, living expenses, everything for them. So, there’s no reason that they shouldn’t be here. They’re very high-achieving, hard-working students.”
