The historic railings around Carlow Courthouse are to be fully restored, with work expected to begin next year.
Carlow Councillor Fintan Phelan says the OPW has confirmed the project, following confirmation from Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran.
Main structural works are due to start in the third quarter of 2027, with overall completion expected by the third quarter of 2028.
Cllr. Phelan told KCLR that a small trial section was previously restored to a very high quality to guide the project.
“Number of years ago a section of the courthouse railings were restored fabulously in preparation for the restoration of the rest of them. Delighted that we’ve received confirmation today from the OPW that they’ve confirmed that they will deliver the project of restoring and reinstating the historic railings at Carlow Courthouse.” said Fintan.
