Two local students were among those to perform as part of U2’s 50th festivities.
The Dublin born band set up five decades ago after Larry Mullen Jr handwrote a note seeking musicians for a group which he then pinned to the noticeboard of Mount Temple Comprehensive School on the Capital’s northside in September 1976.

The outfit returned there last week to the spot where they’d first performed for a set list which included a mix of classics, among those ‘Out of Control’, as well as more from their newly announced album.
Bono’s crew was joined on stage for ‘One’ featuring 32 string musicians, one from each county in Ireland, all of whom are members of Music Generation, Ireland’s national music education programme, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, The Department of Education and local partners.
Representing Kilkenny was Zara Doyle on violin while her Carlow counterpart Hilary Minchin outlined details on The KCLR Daily;
