Another piece of the South East Greenway jigsaw has fallen into place with the opening of a new 300 metre extension in Ferrybank.
The new stretch links the trail directly to the rear of the new rail station, bringing users closer to the connection with the Waterford North Quays development.
Local Councillor Fidelis Doherty says it has seen massive public use since the Curraghmore to Ferrybank section opened in June telling KCLR News; “It’s lovely, just really nice to see another extension happening there and coming together so overall the project is moving on well and it’s getting great use, it’s just lovely to see”.
Meanwhile construction work is now continuing at Mount Elliot in New Ross, alongside progress on the final remaining section linking Ballyverneen to Curraghmore.
