A Carlow councillor is asking people to respect public amenities following reports of broken glass at a local skatepark.
It comes after residents raised concerns online about bottles being smashed at the facility on the Burrin Road.
Cllr Andrea Dalton says the facility is used by people of all ages and expressed her disappointment with the incident.
She says the cost of cleaning up such incidents can take away funding from the development of other public amenities.
“I’m very, very disappointed to hear that it isn’t being respected. And I will, most definitely, will be following up to ensure that we do what what we can to make sure that it’s brought back up to whatever standard it needs to be at, but also would encourage people to have respect for amenities like that. You know, it costs so much money when we have to go out and clean up stuff—money that we could be putting to use to develop further facilities instead of having to tackle incidents like this.”
