An advisory group has been set up to consider the future use and development of the campus at Carlow College St Patrick’s.
The body will be chaired by former Education Minister Noel Dempsey and its work will inform the development of a master plan for the key Carlow town site, with recommendations focused on ensuring that it continues to serve as a major educational and community asset.
Part of the grounds look set to be transferred to St Leo’s College for the development of Special Education classrooms.
Minister of State at the Department of Health, local TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, has hailed it ‘a hugely important step for Carlow’, one she’s worked on closely with Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science of Ireland James Lawless, the South East Technological University (SETU), Carlow College St Patrick’s, Carlow County Council and Kilkenny Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) as well as other stakeholders.
