Marc Roberts is just pure lovely.
He’s represented Ireland at the Eurovision (finished 2nd in 1997), he reps for Galway Bay FM and in recent years has taken the music of John Denver to the masses.
You might not necessarily know the name of John Denver, but as Marc puts it (and I’m paraphrasing slightly), when the guitar comes out at the house party, there’s bound to be a John Denver tune in there somewhere.

He was performing at VISUAL Carlow on Friday night last as part of his 14-date national tour for A Tribute To The Music Of John Denver and before hitting Carlow for soundchecks and setting up on Friday, he popped into studio for a chat, shooting the breeze about Eurovision escapades, travelling the world and what brought him to the music of one of America’s greatest song-writing exports.
Take a listen below (including a sweet three-tune medley towards the end).
Set the alarms for 3pm Monday to Friday to join me for more on KCLR Drive.
Marc’s tour continues to Dun Laoghaire, Ballina, Dublin, Strabane, Limerick, Omach, Waterford, Armagh, Loughrea, Clonmel and Cookstown between now and April.
