Irish Music Month is back for 2023!
The search begins on 4 January for A New Local Hero as we look for more of the best of music from Kilkenny and Carlow to take to the airwaves and compete at national level for big cash and equipment prizes.
Irish Music Month is an initiative, run in partnership with Hot Press, and involving 25 independent Irish radio stations – including ourselves here at KCLR – who through Hot Press and the IBI (Independent Broadcasters of Ireland) have received funding from the BAI Sound & Vision fund to promote and celebrate Irish music.
If you or your band would like to be involved you can do a few things
- Listen out on air on KCLR for details on how to enter
- Check out the KCLR socials across the month of January for more information
- Drop an email introducing yourself and your music to [email protected] or
- Fill out the short form below, including a brief biography and links to original tracks you would like to put forward
Entries are open to acts of all genres across Kilkenny and Carlow and will close for submissions on 31 January. We’ll be announcing our four chosen finalists for Kilkenny and Carlow in February, before we start meeting and greeting acts live on air and choosing KCLR’s representative to go forward to the national finals in March.
Plus, over the course of Irish Music Month, you’re guaranteed to hear even MORE great new Irish music on KCLR. So what are you waiting for? Get your details submitted today and we could be calling you back as we begin 2023’s search for A New Local Hero!
