100 local houses to be given free energy upgrade

Carlow and Kilkenny have so far failed to take up an offer for free energy-saving upgrades in council houses.

The free scheme provides remote access for families living in social housing to all their heating controls.

They can then save money on their bills by checking the temperature and turning on and off the heat as needed – including the immersion – from their phones.

The scheme is being fully funded by Electric Ireland and is already being done in 100 local houses through the the Cluid housing association.

Technology company Climote are doing the upgrade and Director Alan McKenna says it’s not too late for Carlow and Kilkenny County Councils to sign up.
