Thomastown and South Kilkenny are the focus of a local Garda operation this week.
A 3 day operation under Project Storm has seen 11 arrests so far.
Superintendent Ger Egan says they’ve also conducted searches in 8 different premises in the district in Thomastown, Paulstown, Gowran and Ballyhale.
Small quantities of cannabis were seized at 5 of those premises and court appearances will follow in relation to those drug seizures.
In the meantime Gardai are eager to deliver a Crime Prevention message as part of the operation as we head into Winter with darker evenings.
They’re asking people to be concious of their own safety and to secure their property adequately.
Further operations are set to follow in the coming weeks and months.
Superintendent Egan says their Burglary Response Unit will be doing additional hours while they also have a commitment that the Armed Support Unit will be available for additional checkpoints in both North and South Kilkenny.
